We need a web developer to help elevate the public face of WP Engine. This developer will work with designers, other developers, and partners across our Marketing department to build the high-traffic, high-visibility sites we are responsible for. Web Developers in WP Engine's Marketing department work alongside our internal partners to build our company's public presence. We also support our organization internally by providing our expertise and knowledge to other parts of the business. We are working to improve our sites and technology because we believe "Design Matters" and that we should be "Built for Growth".


We are in the early stages of major updates to our site architecture. As part of that, we are looking for a senior developer with strengths in some of the following: WordPress development, testing, automation, CI/CD, continuous improvement, and building to enable other teams.


The day to day.


We work in a fast-paced environment with different projects coming from internal partners, so your days will vary. Most days, you'll do one or more of these things:



  • Develop well-crafted WordPress plug-ins, pages, and site architecture

  • Mentor and collaborate with other developers while leading vital projects

  • Collaborate with our Marketing team to understand and refine our next project

  • Evolve our architecture and technical processes to make our development cycle faster, more reliable, and more sustainable

  • Embrace the challenges that come with our fast-paced environment and high visibility


Your skills and expertise.


Minimum qualifications:



  • WordPress development experience

  • Proficiency in PHP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, git

  • Willingness to work with other employees to benefit the entire team: mentoring, learning from others, offering ideas, and giving constructive feedback

  • Ability to tackle problems and approaches obstacles as challenges to be overcome

  • Able to communicate effectively with others and build working relationships with colleagues and collaborators


Preferred Skills:



  • Automated and manual testing

  • React, Gutenberg, and/or Beaver Builder development experience

  • Build and automation tools, including Composer, Yarn, Webpack, Docker, CI/CD tools, shell scripting

  • Experience with OAuth, Postman, developing APIs, and consuming APIs
