JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY


Florida’s only public university exclusively focused on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) is looking for exceptional candidates to serve as the Web Developer in the departments of University Relations and Information Technology Services.

The Website Developer is a member of the University Relations team who provides architectural leadership and development for all University websites and web applications. The Developer assists in the design/creation, support, and maintenance of University websites using sound governance practices for consistent site design and implementation of features and functions. The Developer helps conceptualize, design, and implement sites that deliver relevant and timely content and strengthen the University brand. The Developer implements designs, provides guidance, and delivers creative inspiration and assistance to the University community. This position is full time with hybrid flex-work opportunities and reports to the Assistant Vice President of University Relations. Additionally, the Developer spends approximately 15% of their time working on web solutions for the Information Technology Services division under the guidance of the CIO.

JOB DESCRIPTION


RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Creates and assists with the design, development, and support of new and existing secure websites and web applications, including the University’s mobile app.

  • Functions as an administrator in the University's web content management system (CMS). Develops new CMS templates and components.

  • Develops and maintains integrations between interactive webpages and back-end systems.

  • Creates and assists with the development of official University websites.

  • Provides training for continuous updating of websites.

  • Performs routine site audits and ongoing maintenance on an as-needed basis.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:



  • Detailed knowledge of web accessibility standards, standard web technologies and protocols, use of content management systems, web design principles and architectures, and development/deployment processes.

  • Strong organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and complete simultaneous projects within deadlines.

  • Ability to work successfully as both a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Initiative, organization, flexibility, and commitment to learning and professional development.

  • Ability to apply web design principles and technologies to the creation and enhancement of integrated and complex websites.

  • Ability to write content for webpages, migrate old content, or generate refreshed content with correct spelling and grammar.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field and 2 years of web development experience.

  • Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered in lieu of the degree.

  • Experience developing standards-compliant websites based on UX/UI principles.

  • Experience with web integration technologies and patterns.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:



  • Experience working on web publishing in a higher education setting.

  • Experience with end-user training.

  • Experience with Adobe Photoshop, search engine optimization, and analytics monitoring.

  • Experience with site architecture layout.


REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:



  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

  • This position requires a criminal background check.

  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.


NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE:  This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m. However, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required. This position includes hybrid remote-work opportunities.


TARGET HIRING SALARY: $75,000-$84,000 commensurate with experience.
